This course will explore the practical applications of population genetics and environmental DNA (eDNA) in modern fisheries science. The workshop will provide both foundational knowledge and real-world case studies to help practitioners incorporate these powerful tools into management, conservation, and monitoring programs. Learn how population genetics supports fisheries management decisions. Explore how eDNA can detect species presence and support monitoring programs. Review strengths, limitations, and best practices for generic methods. In-person attendees will participate in hands-on exercises and a lab tour.
An AFS Continuing Education certificate will be provided upon completion.
